Ronald Maestre Serrano, PhD

Biologist, graduated from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and PhD in Tropical Medicine from the University of Cartagena with the thesis titled: "Current state of susceptibility to insecticides in Aedes aegypti populations of the Colombian Caribbean region", which was mentioned Magna Cum Laude.

Has more than 15 publications of scientific articles and chapters of books in important national and international indexed journals.

It has more than 30 refresher courses in the areas of medical entomology, epidemiology and public health, biomedical sciences in: National Institute of Health (Colombia), Pan American Health Organization, University of Antioquia (Colombia), University of Cartagena ), Complutense University of Madrid (Spain), University of San Martín (Argentina), among others. He has also carried out theoretical and practical training in important national and international institutions such as: The Autonomous University of Nuevo León (Mexico), Pedro Kourí Tropical Medicine Institute (Cuba), World Health Organization / TDR, National Health Institute (Colombia), among others.


He has participated as a researcher in national and international congresses, such as: Congress of the American Society for Mosquito Control, Congress of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, Congress of the Colombian Society of Parasitology and Tropical Medicine, Congress of the Colombian society of entomology, among others.

He worked as coordinator of the area of ​​medical entomology of the Laboratory of Public Health of the department of Atlántico, has been evaluator of research projects in Colciencias, has participated as a researcher in research projects with different national institutions and is currently a researcher at the Faculty of Sciences Of the Health of the Simón Bolívar University.

Has a degree in Physical Education, Specialist in university research and teaching and development project management with humanistic emphasis, Diploma in advanced studies in physical activity and sports sciences and Doctor in physical activity and sports sciences.

He has been creator and coordinator of the Masters in Disability, Comprehensive Intervention in Athlete and Physical Activity and Sports, and has participated in the creation of other programs of specialization and masters and of doctorates in cognitive sciences and health. He is currently the leader of the body movement research group of the Autonomous University of Manizales, a researcher, has written several books and articles on the subject.

Within the theoretical methodological framework of collective health defines his academic research interests towards the study, understanding and analysis of physical activity and sport, with special emphasis on the policies of physical activity and sport and their impact on social policy. From there he has developed studies in the area of ​​physical activity and disability. In the same way, he has traveled in the field of Education focusing his research interests in curricular processes and the formation of human resources in health.
